This school project is about creating your own super hero/villain and using Photoshop to design their character for a poster. Mine is an anti-hero based off the Japanese Kitsune; a mischievous shape-shifting fox spirit.
I started off with inspiration; Pinterest is my best friend. I gathered some beautiful reference photos of very realistic dolls wearing lavish kimonos that I decided to use for the body of the character. Additionally, I found some beautifully crafted fox masks that fit my character’s design perfectly. I sketched out how I envision the final poster looking, and began designing her wordmark to be placed in the final design as well.
From here, I used layer effects, blending/blur tools and fur brushes to nicely mesh then different textures of each photo used. I resized and recoloured the tail to match the character and have a dynamic pose where they gracefully sit intertwined with one another.
With careful editing, overlays, and lot of little details, my character came together into this final design. I was able to make her look enchanting and otherworldly. I'm very proud of the details and effects I pulled off.
